Julia Roberts is considering joining Universal's Charlie Wilson's War, according to Variety.
Should she accept the role, Roberts would join confirmed cast member Tom Hanks in the movie based on George Crile's book 60 Minutes. Hanks will play Wilson, a Texan congressman responsible for his government's helping to arm Afghan rebels against the Soviet Union in the 1980s.
Closer director Mike Nichols is also in early talks to join the project, scripted by West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin. Hanks is producing along with Playtone partner Gary Goetzman.
