Ben Affleck has revealed that Matt Damon could make his directorial debut on the pair's baseball drama The Trade.

The movie centres on New York Yankees players Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich who, during 1973 spring training, announced that they had traded wives. Affleck and Damon may star as Peterson and Kekich respectively.

Speaking to MTV, Affleck said that he and his brother Casey Affleck will pen the script together.

"Once the script’s kind of ready, then it’s like, Who’s doing what? What’s the time frame? Matt, me, Casey directing?" he said.

"Particularly for Matt, he’s had this extraordinary career where he’s worked with these great directors. He’s a great director who just hasn’t directed a movie."

Damon worked with the Affleck brothers on Good Will Hunting, scooping an Oscar with Ben for original screenwriting. Ben has since helmed crime dramas Gone Baby Gone and The Town, while Casey directed mock-documentary I'm Still Here.
