According to Superhero Hype, the sequel to The Dark Knight will enter production in April.
Nolan's previous Batman movies were filmed in Chicago. It is unknown whether New Orleans will be converted into Gotham City, or the location will serve as an alternate backdrop.
The reports support earlier rumours of the shooting location, and back up Michael Caine's comments that the project will commence in April.
DC previously filmed Jonah Hex in the Louisiana city and will use the location again during the production of Martin Campbell's Green Lantern.
Nolan's third Batman film is slated for July 2012.
