The film will reportedly focus on Spector's musical innovations like his 'Wall Of Sound' production style as well as his 2009 conviction on murder charges, according to The New York Times.
Acclaimed playwright David Mamet has signed to write the screenplay, while Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson has been named as the project's executive producer.
John L. Burnham of International Creative Management, which represents Levinson, Mamet and Pacino, remarked that the Godfather star was drawn to both Spector's life story and the team behind the planned film.
"He just saw a very interesting character to play, and he likes the sensibility of David and Barry," the agent said.
Pacino recently won a Primetime Emmy award for 'Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie' for his role in You Don't Know Jack.
