The actor, who plays Carlisle Cullen in the vampire franchise, told OK that he is looking forward to filming the two-part finale but that it will also mark the end of everybody's time on the saga.
"I'm really excited to start filming the last one, it's bittersweet. It's the last two movies of the franchise. Hopefully we’ll go out with a bang. Or a bite," he said.
The father-of-three was also asked about wife Jennie Garth's recent comment that he will be a "foxy grandpa" in the last two movies, joking: "Well, I think I wouldn't have a lot of competition. There's not a lot of 23 year old grandfathers. My character's supposed to be 23."
He recently tweeted his praise for the Breaking Dawn scripts, writing: "I must say... AWESOME! Very excited. :) (sic)"
The first instalment in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be released in 2011.
