The 42-year-old Nip/Tuck actor, who currently resides in Los Angeles but was brought up in Sydney, has accepted a leading role in 3D Aussie movie Bait.
McMahon's co-star Sharni Vinson, who is best known for her roles in Home and Away, Blue Crush 2 and Step Up: 3D, also returned to Australia from LA earlier this month to start filming on the Gold Coast.
Twilight actor Xavier Samuel and former Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis are also believed to be starring in the movie.
