The former Thor scribe, who worked on the plot of director Kenneth Branagh's film, spoke about his cameo during his panel at New York Comic Con, reports CBR.
Straczynski was initially intended to have a walk-on role, as writers and artists have regularly on Marvel films.
"[Kenneth Branagh] decided I could act," he said. "Despite all evidence to the contrary."
Straczynski plays a man who discovers Thor's hammer. When unable to lift it, he enlists his friends to help him.
The scene matches one in the opening of the writer's own run on Thor. "I've vanished into my own narrative!" he said.
