The Eat Pray Love helmer, whose TV show Glee will air a Rocky Horror special on October 26, has met with Fox 2000 about steering their revamp of the cult classic musical.
Released in 1975, Rocky Horror Picture Show starred Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Richard O'Brien and Meat Loaf in a re-telling of the Frankenstein story. It grossed more than $130 million at the box office and continues to show at midnight screenings. A loose sequel, titled Shock Treatment, was released in 1981.
Original Rocky Horror producer Lou Adler is involved in the remake.
Murphy is also considering AIDS drama The Normal Heart with Mark Ruffalo, and reuniting with Eat Pray Love star Julia Roberts for a new romantic comedy.
