The Warner Bros production, penned by Singer's Usual Suspects and Valkyrie writer Christopher McQuarrie, is a big budget re-telling of the Jack and the Beanstalk tale.
Johnson would play a young farmer who ascends a vine to slay a giant and rescue a beautiful princess. The 20-year-old was first linked to the movie in May, along with a pre-Spider-Man Andrew Garfield.
Jack The Giant Killer could potentially film next year in the UK. Johnson's next movie, cyber-thriller Chatroom, is due out in December.
