'Shield' creator to adapt Clancy novel

Vulture reports that Paramount Pictures have now signed Ryan for the adaptation, alongside writer-producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, best known for their work on Star Trek and Mission: Impossible III.
Ryan created the critically acclaimed FX drama The Shield, as well as co-creating the CBS action series The Unit.
The plot of Clancy's Without Remorse follows protagonist John Kelly as he seeks revenge against a drug gang in Baltimore following the death of his girlfriend.
The film is tentatively set for a release in 2011.
