BBC plans British indie movie season

BBC Three will provide a showcase of British and Irish independent films over the course of six weeks beginning on February 10.
Each Friday the channel will feature a television premiere, giving small-budget films some welcome exposure. BBC Programme Acquisition's Head of Films, Steve Jenkins, explained: "In the blockbuster world of UK successes like Harry Potter and James Bond, it's hard for many small but striking British movies to make the mark they should.
"This is why BBC Three is showcasing six recent examples of films from the UK and Ireland which, with the talent on display in front of and behind the camera, definitely deserve wider exposure.
The featured films:
Lawless Heart: A film following the lives of the family and lover of after the death of Stuart, which has picked up the best screenplay awards in the form of the British Independent Film Award 2002 and the Evening Standard Film Award 2003.
Blind Flight: A portrayal of the kidnapping of Brian Keenan and John McCarthy in Beirut in 1986 and their relationship as they deal with their predicament.
Man Dancin': EastEnders' Alex Ferns stars as a man struggling to stay clean after leaving jail in this Glaswegian gangster film.
Dead Bodies: Winner of the Audience Award at the Cinenygma Luxembourg International Film Festival, this dark comedy-thriller focuses on Tommy's attempts to dispose of the body of his girlfriend and their repercussions.
Pure: 10-year-old Paul struggles to maintain his normal life whilst looking after his heroin addict mother in this drama set in the East End featuring Keira Knightley.
A Way of Life: Set in a former mining town in South Wales, a single teenage mother and her friends terrorise their Turkish-Muslim neighbour in a film tackling racism and social deprivation.
