The 'Only Girl (In The World)' singer told The Times that she didn't need firearms training for her part as a naval officer because she had experience handling guns in her teen years.
"I was weapons trained in the cadets as a teenager. I march. I shoot. I do drill," she said. "My role in the film is to be the bad ass who knows how to handle the arms. Well, that's not really acting for me. I am a bad ass in real life."
Battleship, co-starring Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson and Brooklyn Decker, will open in cinemas on May 18, 2012.
