
Steven Spielberg's controversial film about the Israeli reaction to the massacre of eleven of their athletes by Palestinian terrorists at the 1972 Olympic Games has enjoyed a strong opening at Israel's box office.
Despite not finding much favour with the nation's movie critics, Munich attracted 25,000 cinema-goers in its first week, yielding around £60,000.
Globus Group's Dorit Ishay told Variety: "It's exceeded our expectations. It's a public interest issue. It is already the talk of the day."
