Channing Tatum eyed for '21 Jump Street'

Channing Tatum is being eyed for the lead role in the Sony Pictures remake of 21 Jump Street, says Deadline.

The GI Joe star will shortly enter negotiations to join Jonah Hill in the cast. The pair are to play youthful police officers who go undercover at a high school.

Easy A's Emma Stone has previously been rumoured for the project.

Hill and Scott Pilgrim's Michael Bacall penned the Jump Street script, which Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are attached to direct.

21 Jump Street, created by Stephen J. Cannell, ran for five seasons on Fox from 1987 and helped launch the career of Johnny Depp.
