Cher: 'Christina Aguilera acts well'

Cher has revealed that she was surprised at how well Christina Aguilera acted on the set of their new movie Burlesque.

The singer said that she was impressed by Aguilera, especially considering that this was her first acting role.

She told MTV News: "The scenes that she and I had together, I really enjoyed, and I really believe that she's got definite chops.

"We worked well together. I enjoyed all of it, and she was toe-to-toe with me the whole time. But everybody's good. Stanley Tucci's in it and Peter Gallagher, Kristen Bell and Julianne Hough, so everyone's really good in it."

Cher said that she was drawn to her role in the movie because the storyline was relevant to today's economy and she enjoyed the relationship between her character Tess and Aguilera's character Ali.

She said: "I own this club, and we're not doing well - even though it's a fabulous place - because of the economy, and Christina comes out of nowhere.

"[She's] this little girl that just bothers me. All she does is keep needling me and then I make a decision to kind of step aside and make her into this star."
