The Killers actress was to have played a woman killed in a car accident, only to be revived by a bolt of lighting and frozen in her late 20s. She later meets a man who is prepared to risk his life so that she can regain her mortality.
Angela Lansbury had recently joined the project to play Heigl's daughter.
Heigl's agent Norm Aladjem denied rumours that his client had been dismissed from the project after disagreements with backers Lakeshore Entertainment.
Producer Gary Lucchesi added that the movie is still scheduled to go ahead next year with The Bounty Hunter director Andy Tennant at the helm.
"We were scheduled to shoot mid-March and we hope to achieve that. We are great fans of [Heigl] and if this is what she has to do, we respect that."
