Hannigan casts doubt on 'Buffy' spin-off

Alyson Hannigan has stated that she feels a T.V. or straight-to-DVD movie centring on her Buffy The Vampire Slayer character may spoil the show's magic.
There have been many rumblings of spin-off movies, particularly one revolving around Spike (James Marsters), the sometimes-friendly vampire who met his end in the show's finale. The possibility of a feature focusing on Hannigan's character, Willow, has also been mooted.
However, the actress told Sci Fi Wire that she would be afraid of tarnishing the show's legacy in a spin-off without the guiding hand of Joss Whedon. “I think I would just be too scared to sort of go back and possibly tarnish it in any way”, she explained. Joss is too busy. He's not going to write it. He's not going to direct it, you know?
"I'm sure he would get great people, but there's nothing like the Joss touch. I think by all means they should absolutely do the Spike movie. I think that's the logical next step, but ... I don't think Willow is the next step."
Whedon currently has his interpretation of Wonder Woman and his own creation Goners on the go, whilst Hannigan can next be seen in rom-com spoof Date Movie.
