The actor has portrayed Ron Weasley in all eight instalments of the film series, but has claimed that he is ready for a new challenge.
"In terms of filming, yes it really does feel over now," Grint explained to People. "There's a real sense of freedom now, it's a good time to finish I think.
"As much as I'm going to miss it I'm ready to move on and do different things," the actor added.
As well as his appearances in the Harry Potter films, Grint also starred opposite Julie Walters in the 2006 film Driving Lessons, and more recently alongside Misfits actor Robert Sheehan in Cherrybomb.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was released on Friday, and the final instalment is expected for July 15, 2011.
