The actress expressed her delight at getting the lead role in the animated Disney film while speaking to People.
She said: "I think it’s really every young girl’s dream to be a Disney princess.
"Growing up being obsessed with The Little Mermaid and Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast and singing all those songs, to find myself in the studio with [composer] Alan Menken, recording these songs for the film and trying to encompass Rapunzel... it was such a dream."
Moore also explained that she likes the new twist that's been given to the classic tale.
She said: "Rapunzel is a young woman who is on the eve of her 18th birthday, becoming an adult and really coming into her own.
"She finds herself in a situation where she's able to go beyond the tower walls and see these beautiful lights that she sees every year on her birthday and ends up on this crazy adventure with this young man that she potentially has a romantic interest in. She really just comes into her own."
