Ang Lee casts Tabu in 'Life of Pi'?

Ang Lee has reportedly cast Indian actress Tabu to play the role of Pi's mother in his adaptation of Yann Martel's novel.

Newcomer Suraj Singh was previously confirmed in the lead role of The Life of Pi, which will see him on his own among a group of animals for most of the film.

According to the Mumbai Mirror, the part of Pi's mother will be played by Namesake star Tabu.

The paper reports a source as saying: "Ang Lee had been watching Tabu's work and was very impressed by her acting abilities."

Based on the best-selling novel by Martel, The Life of Pi is a fantasy adventure story about a boy stranded in a lifeboat with only a few zoo animals for company.
