Javier Bardem has agreed to topline New Line Cinema's epic Love in the Time of Cholera, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Bardem will play a romantic who loses the girl he loves to a wealthy rival and over the next fifty years he makes it his mission to build up his life and reputation to win her back. Although he picks up various women along the way, his heart remains set on his first love.
Ronald Harwood (The Pianist) wrote the script as an adaptation of the novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Mike Newell is directing.
