Chris Zylka joins 'Spider-Man' cast

Chris Zylka will play Peter Parker's high school nemesis Flash Thompson in the Spider-Man reboot, reports The Wrap.

Zylka joins Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Rhys Ifans in the cast of the Marvel superhero movie, which recently started filming in Los Angeles.

Flash Thompson, who bullies Parker but is a huge admirer of his alter ego Spider-Man, was played by True Blood's Joe Manganiello in the 2002 Tobey Maguire-led comic book blockbuster.

Zylka can next be seen in Gregg Araki's teen apocalypse drama Kaboom and the David R. Ellis-helmed 3D shark thriller.

Spider-Man will open in cinemas on July 4, 2012.
