Writer explains 'The Flash' decisions

Guggenheim, one of the film's scriptwriters, recently hinted that the film would solely focus on the original version of the character, rather than any of the later iterations like Wally West or Bart Allen.
"It's very similar to the whole reason we went with Hal for the Green Lantern. That's the character people grew up on, that's the name first associated with that character," Guggenheim explained to MTV Splash Page.
"So part of it is honouring the legacy aspect, and the other aspect is just practical - you can go forward but you can't really go backward," the writer added, hinting that other iterations of the character could appear in future films should it be successful.
Guggenheim is co-writing The Flash with both Michael Green and Greg Barlanti, while the film's director is still to be announced.
