Earlier this year the studio announced they had cast Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in next year's film adaptation, despite Evans previously appearing as fellow Marvel Comics superhero the Human Torch in the 2005 film Fantastic Four.
"We figured if Harrison Ford could be Indiana Jones and Han Solo, Chris Evans could play Torch and Cap," Feige explained to the LA Times Blog.
Evans will play the lead character in Captain America alongside Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Sebastian Stan as his sidekick Bucky Barnes.
"Bucky plays an important part in the film," Feige teased, referring to Bucky's untimely death and eventual resurrection in the comics. "Sebastian Stan's done a tremendous job playing him."
Feige also promised that a trailer for Captain America would debut in early 2011.
