McGraw made the announcement through Coming Soon at the press conference for his new film Country Strong.
Safe House stars Ryan Reynolds as a CIA agent forced to defend a safe house from a criminal played by Denzel Washington.
McGraw didn't announce what role he would be taking on for the film, but did confirm that it was dramatically different to his previous acting roles.
Safe House is currently scheduled to be released in cinemas on February 10, 2012.
