The Country Strong actress was honoured with the 2,427th star at a ceremony outside Madame Tussauds on Monday, reports KABC.
"I'm completely overwhelmed and I'm going to try not to cry!" she told the crowd. "I feel so honoured to be getting this star.
"I am from Los Angeles and this city is so much a part of my heart and soul and the idea that my grandchildren can one day come and see my name on the sidewalk is very overwhelming."
She added that she had worked with some incredible people over her career and she wouldn't have achieved her success without them or her family.
Paltrow, who recently revealed that she will make a second guest appearance on Glee, was joined at the unveiling by Country Strong co-star Tim McGraw and his wife Faith Hill, while Glee's Matthew Morrison was also present.
