The Oscar winner will portray a former thief looking for his missing daughter, who was kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a taxi cab in New York City, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Con Air director Simon West is helming the project from a script by David Guggenheim.
Terminator Salvation director McG is co-producing the film, which is scheduled for a 2012 release.
