Anne Hathaway has confessed her fears of a backlash from Judy Garland fans over her role in upcoming biopic Get Happy.

The Devil Wears Prada actress, who has been touted to play the legendary Wizard Of Oz warbler for almost two years, accepted that current plans for her to sing in the film may upset devout supporters of Garland and her distinctive vocals.

She told BBC Radio 4's Front Row: "I certainly don't sing like Judy Garland but the talk is to have me do the singing. But I think people might cry murder if they don't get to hear Judy's beloved voice so the talk is for me to sing but I don't know if that's exactly what will happen.

"It's a very sensitive project and there have been so many stories told about her life that we're really trying to get it right... We're taking our time with it. I know it seems like it's sort of an endless process but it's very, very slow incremental steps."

Hathaway seemingly confirmed today that she is in the running for a part in Batman sequel The Dark Knight Rises.
