'Brokeback' shirts sell for $100,000

The shirts worn by the two leads of Brokeback Mountain have raised over $100,000 for charity at auction.

Actor and gay activist Tom Gregory bought the combined shirts worn by Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger in the cowboy movie, still hanging on the hanger and with bloodstains as they appear at the end of Brokeback Mountain.

Gregory has said that he thinks of the prop as "the ruby slippers of our time" saying that they are "the ultimate prop from an extraordinary movie." The actor also said that he intends to keep it in pristine condition: "[I will keep them] as they were on the hanger, entwined ... I would never wear them, put them on or separate them."

Proceeds from the $100,000 sale will go to charity Variety that helps underprivileged children in California.
