According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress will play the girlfriend of a businessman - played by Chris Pine - who is grieving the loss of his father while also caring for an alcoholic sister (Elizabeth Banks) and her child.
Star Trek writer Alex Kurtzman wrote the script with collaborators Jody Lambert and Roberto Orci.
Production will begin in Los Angeles later this month with a tentative release date set for 2012.
