Sean Penn to receive Producers Guild award

Entertainment Weekly reports that the actor will be recognised with the Stanley Kramer award for working "to bring attention to various social issues".
Penn starred in the 2008 film Milk, a biopic of gay rights activist Harvey Milk. He has also contributed significantly to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.
The 22nd Annual Producers Guild Awards will be held in Los Angeles on January 22.
