Bridges plays the lead character of US Marshal Cogburn in the latest film adaptation of Charles Portiss's novel, who was portrayed by the legendary western actor in the 1969 version of the film.
"Jeff [Bridges] kinda didn't care," Joel Coen told The Hollywood Reporter. "The one person who might have been put off by it, he just kinda didn't give a s**t."
"I don't think you'll find a lot of Wallace Beery in Jeff Bridges's performance, or John Wayne either," Ethan Coen added.
True Grit received universal critical acclaim upon its release last month, and has gone on to become the Coen brothers' highest-grossing film.
