Talking to HollyScoop, the actor - who will host the ceremony with Anne Hathaway in Los Angeles later next month - said that he has begun practising for the gig and hopes to bring something new to the event.
"You've got Anne Hathaway, [who is the] youngest host ever, that is new," he teased.
"There might be some singing, there might be some dancing."
Franco - who is nominated in the 'Best Actor' category for his work in 127 Hours - also joked that his publicist Barry Johnson would accept the award on his behalf were he to win.
"Barry is going to [take it]," he said. "Remember Marlon Brando had somebody accept it for him? Barry is asked."
