C. Thomas Howell joins 'Spider-Man' cast

The 44-year-old, who shot to fame in '80s films E.T., Red Dawn and The Hitcher, will play a character called Ray in the Andrew Garfield-led superhero movie, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field and Denis Leary are among the supporting cast for Sony's revamp of the Marvel franchise.
The untitled Spider-Man is due to arrive in cinemas on July 4, 2012.
