Wright told the Los Angeles Times that he and co-writer Joe Cornish (Tintin) put pen to paper this week for the first time since he went away to make Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.
The Hot Fuzz filmmaker admitted that he will take a different approach to other Marvel blockbusters.
"This one's not about about the urgency of summer tentpoles and things going into production without a script. It's slightly different than that," he said.
Ant-Man's alter-ego is scientist Hank Pym, who shrinks down to miniature size in order to solve crimes.
