It was recently announced that Wood will appear in Jackson's two-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit for an undisclosed amount of screen time.
However, Wood said that although he is unsure of how his character Frodo Baggins will fit into the film's story, he was never concerned about reprising his iconic role.
"There only would have been reservation about taking the part if there had been something that had infringed upon the integrity of the original book," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "But that was never going to be the case."
Wood also refused to comment on whether his Lord of the Rings co-star Sean Astin will also return for the film, claiming: "I haven't even read the script."
The actor has already confirmed that Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis and Orlando Bloom will reprise their roles at some point during the films.
The Hobbit is scheduled to begin filming in New Zealand next month.
