Family Weekend follows the story of a 16-year-old girl who holds her parents hostage after becoming tired of being ignored by them.
Variety reports that Chenoweth has signed on for an undisclosed role in the film, along with The Partridge Family actress Shirley Jones and The Kids Are All Right star Eddie Hassell.
Chenoweth was originally known for her part as Glinda in the Broadway musical Wicked, but is now widely recognised for her recurring role as alcoholic singer April Rhodes on the Fox musical comedy series Glee.
Family Weekend is due to begin filming in Detroit later this month, although a release date has yet to be confirmed.
