Van Damme declined a role in the first Expendables film, released last year. However, according to Movie Web, director Sheldon Lettich wrote on the forum of website The Van Damme Files that the action star will accept a role in the sequel on one condition.
"JC seems to be leaning towards appearing in the sequel, as far as I know… If Steven Seagal is not in the sequel," wrote Lettich.
He continued: "From what I've heard [of The Expendables 2], [Seagal] won't be [in the sequel], not because of [Sylvester Stallone], but because of producer Avi Lerner, who had a few bad experiences with Steven."
The Expendables 2 is scheduled to be released in 2012.
