Rain-free Oscars will be about surprises

Academy officials say the Oscars will be rain free, leaving us to wait for the night's surprises.
The Academy's producer Gil Cates, director Lou Horvitz and president Sid Ganis have given their last official briefing before the ceremony.
They said a clear day is expected, so the rain cover over the red carpet was being removed. From there, it's all about the unpredictable surprises, they commented.
“It’s the really unexpected things that we’re all conditioned to wait for that makes the show such a joy to watch,” noted Cates, recalling Jack Palance’s one-armed push-ups in 1991. “We all thought he had a stroke and couldn’t imagine what was going on.”
Highlights that can be expected are musical offerings from Dolly Parton, Kathleen “Bird” York and hip-hop outfit Three 6 Mafia.
Cates confirmed there would be no limit on the expected gay cowboy jokes. “It’s a three-and-a-half hour show," joked Ganis, "so 167 is the quota.”
