Ben Affleck to direct 1980s crime drama?

According to Deadline, the Eric Warren Singer-penned movie dramatises "the true story of Abscam, the FBI's 1980 undercover sting operation of Congress to root out corruption which was the brainchild of the world's greatest conman".
Sony Pictures Entertainment is believed to be backing the project.
Affleck, who directed The Town and Gone Baby Gone, is not yet officially attached to helm American Bulls**t and is reportedly mulling over several other potential directorial projects.
