The School Of Rock writer has been attached to the Lionsgate picture since November but has now had to drop out due to other commitments.
According to Deadline, White said: "I loved the project and looked forward to working with Lionsgate. Unfortunately, the timing could not be worked out. I wish them the best with the movie."
Entertainment Weekly reports that White will instead be working on the upcoming HBO series Enlightenment, starring Laura Dern as an executive who tries to turn her life around following a breakdown.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's book of the same name, in which the classic Jane Austen novel is reworked into a tale of the living dead.
