According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio wants to revive the concept of two mismatched cops for a reboot of the hit action franchise.
Mel Gibson's volatile homicide cop Martin Riggs and Danny Glover's veteran police officer Roger Murtaugh teamed up for four movies spanning from 1987 to 1998. Superman director Richard Donner helmed the films, which grossed more than $950 million at the worldwide box office.
A fifth Lethal Weapon, which would have seen Gibson and Glover reunite, was rumoured in 2008.
