Brand to star in 'Rock of Ages' movie?

It has been reported that Russell Brand is being considered for a role in the film adaptation of Rock Of Ages.

According to Deadline, the actor and comedian is thought to be in line for the role of nightclub owner Lonny, who is also the musical's narrator.

The original show tells the tale of aspiring musician Drew as he tries to make it in the industry, featuring songs from classic rock acts including Bon Jovi, Starship and Journey.

Although no castmembers have yet been confirmed, the film's director Adam Shankman has hinted that rumours linking stars including Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow to the project might be true.

Production on Rock of Ages is expected to begin later this year.
