Speaking to the Detroit Free Press, Raimi's business and producing partner Rob Tapert said that the pair are looking to return to the Evil Dead franchise.
"It's possible; we're looking at a script this month," Tapert said about an Evil Dead reboot.
He added: "What's interesting about Evil Dead is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theatre... I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in gruelling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience."
Tapert, who now works as a producer on Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, co-produced all three Evil Dead movies with Raimi.
The Evil Dead was released in 1981, followed by Evil Dead II in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992. Bruce Campbell starred in all three films.
