The actress is starring in the forthcoming horror movie Vampire, which is directed by Shunji Iwai and centres on a vampire who feeds on suicidal girls.
Speaking to MTV, she said: "[Vampire] exposes the ugly reality of what it would really mean to be a vampire in this day and age."
Cook, who was reportedly the original inspiration for the character of Alice Cullen in the Twilight novels, stars in the picture with Adelaide Clemens, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Amanda Plummer and Kevin Zegers.
Vampire, the first English-language movie from Japanese filmmaker Iwai, is expected to open later this year.
