Gervais teased that the movie should win a special effects award because he felt that the cast had been airbrushed to appear younger in the film's promotional poster.
Although the 54-year-old did not watch the ceremony, she stressed that she does not find ageism amusing.
She explained to Extra: "I didn't watch it so I can't really comment on it. Ageism is out there and I fight it every day in my own way.
"So, I think that's kind of a cheap joke... Maybe some people feel that needs to be out there. I don't particularly think so."
