'Star Trek' scribes to adapt 'Ender's Game'

The screenwriters behind Star Trek and the first two Transformers movies have revealed that they are working on an adaptation of Orson Scott Card's novel Ender's Game.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who refer to themselves as K/O, are currently attempting to sell the script with the help of director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and the production company Odd Lot Entertainment (The Spirit).

Orci tweeted the news two days ago, writing: "Ender's Game! Us(K/O), Oddlot, and Gavin Hood taking his amazing script to the town! Who wants some?"

Screen Rant reports that this is the first time that Kurtzman and Orci's names have been connected with the project.

Ender's Game tells the story of Andrew 'Ender' Wiggins, a young boy taken to a school to be trained in the art of war in order to fight off an alien invasion by an insectoid race called the Buggers. At the school, Ender is revealed to be a tactical genius.

Should the screenplay be purchased, Ender's Game is expected to be released in 2013.
