Speaking to Movieline, the 61-year-old actor admitted that he did not expect to be nominated by the Academy for the second year in a row.
"Well, it's always kind of a thrill and a surprise and very exciting, so that remains the same," he said. "Every time I walk down one of those red carpets, you think I'd be used to it after all these years, but it's like it's happening for the first time."
He added: "It's always kind of a wonderful assault of sorts."
Bridges admitted that he doesn't expect to win the 'Best Actor' prize after having taken home the award last year for his portrayal of a down-and-out country singer in Crazy Heart.
"Once is plenty. None would be enough, too; I'm not one of those guys chomping at the bit to get an award," he said.
Before being named 'Best Actor' at 2010's ceremony, Bridges had been nominated on four other occasions for an Oscar over the course of his lengthy career.
The 2011 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
