According to BBC News, the animation was awarded with ten prizes at the annual event, including 'Best Animated Effect' and 'Best Direction'.
The DreamWorks film even headed off competition from both Pixar's Toy Story 3 and indie animation The Illusionist to take home the top prize of 'Best Animated Feature'.
Voice actor Jay Baruchel was also honoured with an award for his role as the film's lead character, over the likes of fellow nominees Cameron Diaz and Geoffrey Rush.
How To Train Your Dragon has been nominated in the 'Best Animated Feature' category at this year's Academy Awards, which are due to take place on February 27.
