A publicists' statement confirmed that the English-language film will be directed by Korean-American John H. Lee and star South Korean actor Jung Woo-sung, Deadline reports.
Woo said: "While all my films are special to me, The Killer is truly one of my favourites.
"We are thrilled to reinvent it as an English-language film and know it's in capable hands by the incredible visual style and tender emotion John H. Lee brings to all his films."
The original movie featured Chow Yun-fat as an assassin who takes on a final job to pay for surgery to repair the sight a woman he blinded by mistake in a shootout.
